ANTIQUE woodstove.

BURGUNDY ENAMEL CAST IRON exterior

The Art Deco movement

wikepedia :"Art Deco (/ˌɑrt ˈdɛkoʊ/), or Deco, is an influential visual arts design style that first appeared in France after World War I and began flourishing internationally in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s before its popularity waned after World War II.[1] It is an eclectic style that combines traditional craft motifs withMachine Age imagery and materials. The style is often characterized by rich colours, bold geometricshapes and lavish ornamentation.

this stove is a classic piece of ART DECO design and construction

The colour is quite uncommon for early 20th century stoves, most models being ranges of blues or browns.

Purples and Greens were more expensive to produce and sought after. They still are very popular.

This gorgeous piece of French art & industrial history is finished in a rich burgundy enamel on a cast iron body with internal steel box and baffle

all in excellent condition apart from a few small chips along the left door panel and one fine crack to the enamel on the corner of the lid not easy to spot.

(see photos)

The motifs stand out beautifully and are geometrical floral abstracts above a basket-weave style.

a well constructed and fully functional stove.

I have replaced the mica, rope and resealed the gaskets, rubbed down and resealed exterior cast-iron shell and diamond ground the silver cast-iron decorative window and side panels

Cleaned the enamel and it is all ready for a new home.
